Heads up: hex values are approximate, community-referenced swatches and matches are algorithmic — no cross-brand match is ever perfect. Use this to narrow the shortlist, then confirm against a physical swatch before you buy. The colour list is a growing seed of the most-searched paints.

How the paint converter works

Pick the brand and colour you already have, choose the brand you want an equivalent in, and the closest colours appear instantly — each rated from Excellent match to Approximate. Every paint is converted to the CIE-Lab colour space and compared with the CIEDE2000 formula, the perceptual colour-difference standard used across the printing and design industries.

Why convert paints between brands?

Most painting tutorials are written in Citadel colours, but Citadel is among the priciest ranges. Painters routinely want the equivalent in Vallejo or The Army Painter to save money, match what their local store stocks, or replace a discontinued pot. A reliable conversion saves a wasted trip and a wasted purchase.

For the full background — including how to read match quality and where conversions fall down — see the Citadel to Vallejo conversion guide, or browse every colour in the conversion index.
