How the paint converter works

Every paint is converted to the CIE-Lab colour space and compared with the CIEDE2000 formula, the perceptual colour-difference standard used across the printing and design industries.
Why convert paints between brands?
Most painting tutorials are written in Citadel colours, but Citadel is among the priciest ranges. Painters routinely want the equivalent in Vallejo or The Army Painter to save money, match what their local store stocks, or replace a discontinued pot.
